The DOST -PCIEERD on its 7th Anniversary unveiled the Young Innovators Program (YIP) which gave recognition to the youngest promising researchers with the awarding of research grants.

The Young Innovators Program (YIP) provides financial assistance to promising researchers as young as high school students to inspire and motivate them to undertake scientific researches to advance new and innovative ideas.

The awarding took place last June 29, 2017 at the Philippine International Convention Center(PICC), Pasay, Manila. The YIP awarding is one of the highlights of DOST PCIEERD’s 7th Year celebration and this year’s theme  was “PCIEERD, The Innovation Council: Shifting Gears, Driving Change, Transforming Lives.”

Seven (7) out of ninety-seven (97) proposals for the said program were selected and The PSHS CLC Team GRASP (Guided Robotic Arm for Special Purpose) was chosen. The team composed of Francis Rey G. Tolentino as the Team Leader, with members namely Kenneth L. Suarez, Nyle Aldrin S. Maliwat under the supervision of Mr. Joel T. Bautista.

Other teams that were awarded came from schools all over the country specifically the University of the Philippines (UP), Mapua Senior Science High School, Colegio de Dagupan, and St. Cecilia’s College-Cebu.

Seven teams from different institutions were recognized as recipients of the Young Innovators Program, one of DOST-PCIEERD’s new programs.
