PSHS – CLC Students Participate in 10th IRS
Selected students from the Philippine Science High School – Central Luzon Campus traveled to Chapayevo, Yakutia, Russia to participate in the 10th International Research School (IRS). The event was spearheaded by MILSET Vostok (Mouvement International pour le Loisir Scientifique et Technique or International Movement for Leisure Activities in Science and Technology) and Sakha Junior Science Academy. The event started on June 25th and concluded on July 5th.

PSHS – CLC Students Win Award at PNCO
Last April 22, 2017, Charles Bartolo and Janine Juachon, students from Philippine Science High School – Central Luzon Campus (PSHS-CLC), participated in the 16th Philippine National Chemistry Olympiad (PNCO) held at Bulwagang Tandang Sora, UP Diliman, Quezon City. The affair was organized by the Kapisanang Kimika ng Pilipinas (KKP), Philippine Association of Chemistry Teachers (PACT), Philippine Federation of Chemistry Societies, Inc. (PFCS), Batang Sayantist Club, Inc., and UP Chemical Society. The participating students became finalists and eventually placed 2nd Runner Up.

PSHS Students Conquer IPhO
The International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) Elimination was held last May 27, 2017 at the National Institute of Physics, in UP Diliman. Dr. Jose Perrico Esguerra from the National Institute of Physics served as the head trainer and coach for the competition. Charles Bartolo from Philippine Science High School – Central Luzon Campus (PSHS – CLC) was declared as 2nd Runner Up while Israel Aguba and Arthur Reiner De Belen, both from Philippine Science High School – Main Campus (PSHS – MC), were 1st Runner Up and Champion respectively.

Research Fair 2017
The Research Fair 2017 is a two-day culminating event for all research classes for the school year 2016-2017 in PSHS –CLC with the theme “Empowering the Youth through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Research.” This showcased the accomplished researches of Grades 10 and 11 students. The researches were clustered into three (3) categories: 1.) Biological Researches, 2) Chemistry-related Researches, and 3) Computational Researches including Physics, Fabrication Technology, and Computer Science. The activity started with the opening of the poster gallery of the researches of Grade 11 students in the multipurpose hall of PSHS CLC. With the help of seven (7) invited research experts (two to three for each cluster) from various universities and institutions, five (5) researches per cluster were selected and proceeded to present their oral presentation in front of their cluster judges. Each cluster then selected the two (2) best researches that presented their researches in front of the all the seven (7) invited research experts and the whole PSHS CLC community at the Fontana Convention Center on the second day of the event. The Grades 10 and 11 scholars also opened their research poster gallery in the lobby of the convention center. At the end of the event, several awards were given to notable projects including Best Research 2017, Best Oral Presenter, Best Poster for Grade 11 students. For Grade 10 students, the Most Promising Research and Best Poster Awards were given. With the positive remark from all the participants and invited experts, the activity was a success and would definitely be a benchmark for the succeeding research fairs of the school.

PSHS CLC Team GRASP Chosen as one of the recipients of the Young Innovators Program
The DOST -PCIEERD on its 7th Anniversary unveiled the Young Innovators Program (YIP) which gave recognition to the youngest promising researchers with the awarding of research grants.
The Young Innovators Program (YIP) provides financial assistance to promising researchers as young as high school students to inspire and motivate them to undertake scientific researches to advance new and innovative ideas.
The awarding took place last June 29, 2017 at the Philippine International Convention Center(PICC), Pasay, Manila. The YIP awarding is one of the highlights of DOST PCIEERD’s 7th Year celebration and this year’s theme was “PCIEERD, The Innovation Council: Shifting Gears, Driving Change, Transforming Lives.”
Seven (7) out of ninety-seven (97) proposals for the said program were selected and The PSHS CLC Team GRASP (Guided Robotic Arm for Special Purpose) was chosen. The team composed of Francis Rey G. Tolentino as the Team Leader, with members namely Kenneth L. Suarez, Nyle Aldrin S. Maliwat under the supervision of Mr. Joel T. Bautista.

Other teams that were awarded came from schools all over the country specifically the University of the Philippines (UP), Mapua Senior Science High School, Colegio de Dagupan, and St. Cecilia’s College-Cebu.
Seven teams from different institutions were recognized as recipients of the Young Innovators Program, one of DOST-PCIEERD’s new programs.
