To provide wider understanding and appreciation of statistics to various sectors, Philippine Science High School- Central Luzon Campus holds the first ever PISAYStatiska, a workshop-competition on Statistical Data Infographics, October 23 at Royce Hotel & Casino, Clark Freeport, Pampanga.

29 participating elementary schools in Region 3 attended the said workshop-competition that aims to promote the culture of excellence among the youth in analyzing and presenting statistical data.

Dr. Helen E. Caitic, keynote speaker, pointed out the importance statistics as a unique way to identify societal problems to avoid misuse fabrication of lies. She also emphasized the importance of statistics in our daily lives by developing critical minds and statistical literacy among the students.

“This event helps us to simplify the complicated concepts of statistics in objective decisionl making utilize the skills to a younger audience,” said Jamie Villar, Grade 9 student.

Various programs were conducted such as seminar on the importance of statistical literacy, statistical infographics making competition and Math, Probabality and Statisticd Quiz Contest.

According to Ms. Glaiza T. Manaloto, head event organizer, said the seminar is an avenue of empowering Pisay students to understand and appreciate better statistics in various contexts.

Moreover, Grade 9 students were also present in the event to further enhance their statistical literacy and competence. This event is made possible with the constant support of Pisay-CLC faculty, staff and Math club officers.

Hence, this event coincides with the 30th celebration of National Statistics Month with this year’s theme Data Innovation:Key to a Better Nation.
