CLC, HOME AT LAST

PSHS-CENTRAL LUZON CAMPUS-- With the realization of the campus's dream to be finally home in its permanent site, the PSHS-CLC family had its ground breaking rite for the commencement of the construction of the academic buildings of the campus on Sept. 25 at 4:00PM, the last day of the campus's celebration of its 4th Foundation Anniversary at the Lily Hill Avenue, Clark Freeport Zone. Key officials from the DOST and the CDC were present during the event.
Dr. Josette T. Biyo, the PSHSSytem congratulated the PSHS-CLC family for a job well done. Moreover, she expressed her gratitude to the CDC for officially granting the CLC family a site which they could claim their 'home'. CDC Vice-Pres for Operations Franco Alejo Madlangbayan was there to extend the CDC's welcoming hands to the PSHS-CLC family. In his inspirational message, Madlangbayan stated, "I am proud to welcome everyone to this groundbreaking rites for finally, this activity places not only a period, but rather an exclamation point to the need for the Philippine Science High School to have its permanent home in Central Luzon." Further, DOST Undersecreatry Fortunato dela Pe?a also came to grace the occasion.

4 PSHS-CLC scholars get 2012 ICAS English distinction

Proving their competence in English language skills, one sophomore and three seniors of Philippine Science High School ? Central Luzon Campus (PSH-CLC) earned themselves merit certificates in this year?s International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) English held on July 28 in St. Augustine School in Iba, Zambales. Joshua Miguel Danac, II-Champaca, Cyril John Bernardo IV-Graviton and Samantha Beatrice de Guzman, IV-Tau capped distinction certificates upon making it in the top 10% while Arien Gonzales, IV-Graviton got a credit certificate for succeeding to be in the top 25%. Close to 2000 participants joined the 2012 ICAS English and took the test in different testing venues around the country. ICAS English assesses reading and other language skills including vocabulary, syntax, textual devices and comprehension using various literary and expository texts. The questions require students to locate, identify, interpret, infer and synthesize information in and about texts in one hour. The complete 2012 ICAS results were published in philboardstudies.ph last September 29.

CLARK, PAMPANGA - The Philippine Science High School ? Central Luzon Campus (PSHS-CLC) received a three-hectare land as permanent site from the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) during the signing of memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Thursday, July 19 at the CDC Board Room.
DOST Secretary Mario Montejo, CDC Officer-in-Charge President and Chairman of the Board Eduardo Oban, Jr., PSHS System Executive Director Josette Biyo and CDC Executive Vice-President Philip Jose Panlilio signed the MOA establishing the scope of association and mutual responsibilities over the new permanent site located at Lily Hill Street in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
"In Clark, dreams are transformed to reality," said Chairman Oban.
Clark does not only consider industries, tourism, investments, aviation and logistics related enterprises but also quality education that's why we are giving PSHS-CLC a permanent site for its scholars, he explained.
"We are thankful to CDC for supporting PSHS-CLC, and we will make sure that the Pisay scholars in Region III will get the best science and technology education they deserve," Secretary Montejo said.
"Pisay is going to benchmark in world-class schools abroad, and I told Lilia [PSHS-CLC Campus Director] to take note of the best features of the science laboratories we shall visit," Dr. Biyo said.
Building a world-class science laboratory in PSHS-CLC and making it the most beautiful Pisay campus are my plans to support our youngest operating campus, she added.
"PSHS-CLC shall have a new home we have been dreaming of. With the support the school receives from DOST and CDC, we will continue to live up to our name as a premier science school in the country," Campus Director Habacon stated in her welcome remarks.

Regional cerebral brawl held in SM Clark

CLARK, PAMPANGA - Forty elementary schools across Region III battled for cerebral supremacy in the 3rd PhiSciCLaban Friday, July 7 at the Event Center, SM Clark.
PhiSciCLaban, the yearly academic quiz bee of the Philippine Science High School ? Central Luzon Campus (PSHS-CLC) aimed to promote the school to promising grade six students and future scholars and build stronger partnership with elementary schools in the region.
Center of Excellence - Kalalake Elementary School (Zambales) stood out as champion after outscoring first runner-up winner Montessori School of Malolos (Bulacan).
Olongapo Wesley School, Inc. (Zambales) outwitted last year's champion Dinalupihan Elementary School (Bataan) during the clash for second and third runners-up, respectively.
Likewise, Olongapo Wesley School, Inc. (Zambales) won the individual and group highest pointer awards during the elimination round.
Pampanga Vice-Governor Joseller "Yeng" Guiao and Engr. Mariza Mandocdoc, Clark Development Corporation (CDC) Vice-President for Permits/ Licensing and Monitoring welcomed and congratulated the contestants and winners.

PSHS-CLC Scholars Win International Awards

CLARK, PAMPANGA
The Philippine Science High School ? Central Luzon Campus (PSHS-CLC) bagged a back-to-back victory in two international competitions as six scholars excelled in essay writing, science and technology.
Joshua Miguel C. Danac landed as Finalist while Samantha Beatrice A. De Guzman and Stephanie Kate A. Agor won Honorable Mention Awards in the "Dear Mr. UN Secretary-General International Schools Essay Writing Contest", Secondary Schools Category with 576 entries worldwide, organized by The Living Rainforest, an indoor greenhouse tropical rainforest located in Hampstead Norreys in Berkshire, England last May 16.
The contest organizers wanted to hear what children think governments and world leaders should be doing to build a more sustainable future on planet Earth.
Quantum Chronicles school paper adviser Aries N. Oliveros served as trainer of Danac, De Guzman and Agor.
Likewise, Mikhael Edrich S. Eubanas, Angel Gabriel D. Pineda and Gabrielle Sophia S. Seva brought home three silver medals for chemistry and physics lab skills and one silver and one bronze medals for biology field study competitions, respectively, during the Asean Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey (AJTPS3O) 2012 held in Negara, Brunei Darussalam last June 10-17.
The 2012 AJTPS3O aimed to encourage and challenge gifted science students to excel in the field of science and technology, stimulate students' intellectual curiosity through various experiences and experiments, provide the students with the opportunity to foster friendship and networking in the APT region and motivate the students to pursue careers in science and technology.
PSHS-CLC science teachers Arnold D. Pitpitunge, Ivy Razel B. Ventura, Ralph S. Hipolito and Joseph Ednie Soriano, Rex S. Forteza and John Paolo C. Daupang coached the Pisay delegates.
The PSHS ? Western Visayas Campus emerged as grand winner after pocketing seven gold medals in all science categories.
With the combined medals of the two PSHS campuses, the Philippines became the over-all champion.
Teams from China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia and Thailand also participated in the 2012 AJTPS3O.

PSHS CLC Students @ ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey Negara Brunei Darussalam

Brunei Darussalam has been nominated as host for the inaugural ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey (APT JSO) during the 6th Informal ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology (IAMMST) held on the 17th of December 2010 in Krabi, Thailand. The APT JSO is envisioned to be the Asian version of the International Olympiads in the three Sciences respectively, catering to the Asian continent, as well as the first Olympiad to cater directly for Gifted Science Students.
The aims of the APT Junior Science Odyssey are:
To encourage and challenge gifted science students to excel in the field of science and technology.
To stimulate students' intellectual curiosity through various experiences and experiments.
To provide the students with the opportunity to foster friendship and networking in the APT region.
To motivate the students to pursue careers in science and technology.
